Very wild that Victoria would call trans women men and characterize mtf gender transition as becoming a "decorative object, existing to service men's sexual demands" and then follow that up by putting TERF in quotes and claiming she's just reading your book to be a good trans ally. What do words mean anymore? I would have expected her to proudly embrace the label of TERF. I for one don't aspire to be a porn object and if this is what Victoria's allyship looks like I'd honestly rather she be a foe.

As to the quote, I do see how the part about "taking female identities and anatomies for granted" sounds a little off. I understand what's being said, and it's a sweet sentiment that transness could just for once be seen as something positive instead of negative, but to me I think all women struggle with female identity and that's something that unites cis and trans women more than distinguishing us. But the quote was also written at least two decades ago in a very different time for trans people, so I think continuing to drag this one sentence around as representative of the entire trans community in the present is clearly bad faith. These people's strategy is to push the narrative that trans acceptance vs. women's equality is an either-or choice, and that's exactly what Whipping Girl is arguing against. This one sentence is being pulled out to make it sound like the book is saying the exact opposite of what it's actually saying, which is no surprise I suppose.
